Study Abroad at 黑料社: A friendly community in a beautiful historic city only an hour from London.
Once the ancient capital of England and former seat of King Alfred the Great, 黑料社 is the quintessential English city with a rich heritage and vibrant contemporary culture - truly an inspiring place to both live and study. Not far from the coast, with its small friendly community and excellent transport connections (one hour from London), it is not surprising that 黑料社 is regularly voted one of the best places to live in England.
Our modern university campus is located just a short walk from the city centre and offers excellent facilities, including on campus accommodation.
黑料社 has welcomed Study Abroad students for more than 40 years and our Global Mobility team provides dedicated support at every stage of the journey. Study Abroad students are encouraged to tailor their academic experience by choosing modules from a range of high-quality programmes across the Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Business and Sport.
Study Abroad students have full access to our university support services as well as , which offers a variety of societies and sport teams. At 黑料社, we offer a supportive and engaging learning community, where students studying abroad can make connections and feel a sense of belonging.

The University welcomes applications from all Study Abroad students from partner and non-partner universities who wish to spend one term (semester) or a full academic year at the University.
Eligibility Requirements
Some students may require an English Language proficiency certificate. Students from partner universities will normally be nominated before applying.

Students undertaking the full academic year study or work placement will also need to complete the CAS application form (Student Route Visa Students).
Applying for Housing
Term or academic-year contracts are available. Please contact housing@winchester.ac.uk and ask for the Study Abroad Housing Form.
A full鈥憈ime student takes 60 CATS credits (equivalent to 30 ECTS credits) per term (semester)
Students typically take four single modules per semester.
Modules are offered at undergraduate levels 4–6 (equivalent to 200–400 level in the USA).
Students should only select level 6 modules if they have strong subject proficiency.
1 CATS credit translates to 10 hour 's worth of work.

Information for Students Eligible to Select BA Primary Education Teaching Modules.
Eligible students must be enrolled at partner institutions with which we have a formal Teacher Education subject agreement. Some students may have the opportunity, or be required, to undertake a school placement lasting up to 8–10 days, typically in a primary school. Placement students should contact Global Mobility for advice regarding the visas and background checks required for Primary School placements.

Term Starts: Monday 18 January to Friday 28 May 2027
Progress Week*: Monday 1 March to Friday 5 March 2027
Spring break: Monday 22 March to Friday 2 April 2027
Term Ends: (includes a revision week end of term): Friday 30 April 2027
Move Out: Saturday 1 May 2027
Traditionally, Study Abroad students do not stay for the assessment periods. Please contact Globalmobility@winchester.ac.uk if you would like to extend to include the assessment period(s) .
*During progress week there will be no scheduled teaching. Supported learning sessions (assessment preparation and wellbeing workshops) will be available.

Students who are studying for an academic year or undertaking a work placement may require a Student Route Visa.
Students intending to study here as a ‘Standard Visitor’ will need to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation before they travel. You can find out more information and
